StrayFinder Terms of Service

1. Agreement and eligibility

By accessing or using StrayFinder, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. A higher minimum age or parental permission may apply where required by local law.

2. The service

StrayFinder is a community platform that helps people publish and find information about lost, found, rescued, and adoptable animals and communicate with one another. Community-provided information may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, or fraudulent. StrayFinder is not an emergency, veterinary, shelter, rescue, adoption-agency, transport, or law-enforcement service.

For emergencies, animal abuse, medical care, or dangerous situations, contact the appropriate local authority or qualified professional. Never put yourself, another person, or an animal at risk based on information in the app.

3. Accounts

Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email; there is no StrayFinder account password. You must provide accurate information, protect access to your email, and promptly tell us about suspected unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may limit account creation or use to protect the service.

4. User content and license

You retain ownership of content you submit. You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to share it and that it does not violate law or another person’s rights. You grant Noorcompass a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt for technical formatting, display, and distribute your content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, moderate, improve, and promote StrayFinder. This license ends when content is deleted, except for limited copies retained for backups, security, legal obligations, or content previously shared with others.

Public profiles and approved posts may be visible and shared by others. Do not publish sensitive information you do not want made public.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

• Post false, deceptive, illegal, abusive, threatening, exploitative, discriminatory, infringing, graphic, or spam content.
• Harm, facilitate harm to, unlawfully sell or trade, or misrepresent the condition or ownership of an animal.
• Impersonate another person or organization, violate privacy, publish another person’s sensitive data without permission, or scrape user data.
• Harass users, solicit unlawful activity, bypass blocks or moderation, manipulate engagement, or misuse reports.
• Probe, disrupt, reverse engineer where prohibited, overload, automate access to, or circumvent the security or integrity of StrayFinder.
• Use StrayFinder in violation of applicable animal-welfare, consumer-protection, privacy, intellectual-property, export, sanctions, or other laws.

6. Safety, moderation, and enforcement

Users can report content and block accounts. We may review new or reported content and may reject, restrict, remove, preserve, or disclose content where reasonably necessary for safety, enforcement, or law. We may warn, suspend, or terminate accounts and limit features. Moderation is not guaranteed to identify every violation, and our failure to act immediately does not waive our rights.

If you meet another user, use a public place, verify claims independently, protect personal information, and consider involving a shelter, veterinarian, rescue organization, or authority as appropriate.

7. Advertising and third-party services

StrayFinder may display advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Third-party services—including Firebase, map providers, device-platform services, email services, app stores, advertisers, and external links—are governed by their own terms. Noorcompass does not control and is not responsible for third-party services, content, availability, or transactions.

8. Service changes and availability

We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue features; impose reasonable usage limits; or perform maintenance. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, message or notification delivery, preservation of drafts, successful animal outcomes, or that a particular post will remain available.

9. Account termination and deletion

You may stop using StrayFinder at any time and delete your account in the app or through the external deletion process. We may suspend or terminate access for violations, risk, legal requirements, or discontinuation. Sections that by nature should survive—such as ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms—remain effective after termination.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StrayFinder is provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties. We do not warrant the accuracy of user content, identity or intentions of users, health or ownership of animals, fitness for adoption, availability of services, or results from using the app. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Noorcompass and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of data or opportunity, user conduct, animal injury or loss, or third-party acts arising from StrayFinder. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law. These limitations do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot legally be limited.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect service or legal changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice or request renewed acceptance when required. Continued use after an effective update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

13. Governing rules

Applicable mandatory consumer and privacy laws continue to protect you. Any dispute should first be raised with us so we can attempt to resolve it informally. These Terms do not prevent you from contacting a regulator or bringing a claim in a court that applicable law makes available to you.
